About BLDPA

The Bloomingdale LeDroit Dog Park Association (BLDPA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization partnered with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) - through a legally executed Memorandum of Understanding - to provide custodial care of the dog park in the "Park at LeDroit".

What kind of things do BLDPA volunteers do?
  • we unlock the park every morning and we lock the park every day "at dark",
  • we enforce the city's dog park rules,
  • we raise money for all maintenance supplies,
  • we buy poop bags and garbage can liners,
  • we pick up poop when you forget to,
  • we organize events to help build a sense of community among local dog owners,
  • we empty the trash cans when the city, er . . . forgets to . . . and,
  • we manage this site and our Facebook page, among other things.

Our Mission

BLDPA's mission is to build a sense of community and increase public safety in Bloomingdale & LeDroit Park by establishing and maintaining a dog park at the "Park at LeDroit". We help to provide a safe, clean, and accessible environment for people and dogs to exercise and socialize together.  Read the BLDPA by-laws here (coming soon).

Use of the dog park is free, but requires proper licensing.
